According to studies, black rice contains more than 23 different types of antioxidants and has the highest antioxidant activity of any rice variety.

Antioxidants included in black rice have been demonstrated to help protect against heart disease. However, further research is needed to fully comprehend the impact of black rice on heart disease.

Black rice is naturally gluten-free, making it an excellent choice for celiac disease or gluten sensitivity sufferers.

While further research is needed, black rice may assist those with type 2 diabetes lower their blood sugar levels and minimise their risk of NAFLD.

Black rice can be cooked in the same way as other types of rice and used in a variety of savoury and sweet meals.
